Top Attractions At The Discover Boating Norwalk Boat Show

Many boat shows are held in the U. S. throughout the year. One of the most highly regarded is the annual Discover Boating Norwalk Boat Show in Norwalk, Connecticut. The 2024 event takes place September 19-22 at Norwalk Cove Marina with plenty of on-the-water and on-land activities, events, and displays.

Both new and veteran boat enthusiasts have found the Discover Boating Norwalk Boat Show appealing for over four decades. And it’s not just about looking at or looking for new watercraft, as these top attractions attest.

The Boating Simulator. Of special interest to new boaters of all ages - here’s a chance to get a virtual idea of what it’s like to dock a boat and complete other common boating maneuvers.

The Try-It Cove. No experience is needed to get on the water and see what paddleboarding is like, and also how different types of boards suit you. All gear is supplied, but plan ahead by wearing a bathing suit and bringing a towel.

The How-To Center. Called Fred’s Shed at the Norwalk Boat Show, this daily set of seminars has included sessions on proper propellor selection; basic motor maintenance; fuel choices and care; marine batteries; personalized advice from a tech pro; new boater basics; necessary trailer maintenance; replacing a water pump; winterization and off-season fuel storage; and other topics. On-Water Boating Classes. The Annapolis School of Seamanship conducts one-hour on-water boating classes over three days for women, children aged 11-15, and basic boat operation. Check the schedule for dates, times, and sign-ups.

Historic Lighthouse Boat Tour. The Norwalk Seaport Association offers a boat ride to historic Sheffield Island Lighthouse in Long Island Sound. Check the schedule for departures and plan to be in line early as seating is limited.

Enjoy Classic and Antique Boats. This year’s meticulously preserved classic and wooden boat collection includes a 1920 Edwin Long Cedarstrip, and you can learn about restoration projects from experts.

There’s also: Free powerboat rides; a kids boating area; a toy boat building display where youngsters can create their take-home souvenir; a tide-pool creature touch tank; a conservation village; and, of course, loads and loads of new boats to see.
