Every September, the city of Newport, Rhode Island, attracts boating enthusiasts from around the world to the Newport International Boat Show. This fall boat show offers one of the most diverse selections of boats and marine accessories in the United States and covers over thirteen acres along the downtown waterfront. Whether you’re an experienced sailor, a powerboater, or part of the cruising crowd, there’s something for you at the Newport International Boat Show.

Held at the Newport Yachting Center Marina, the annual Newport International Boat Show features the largest in-water display in New England. The show provides hundreds of opportunities to meet with boat manufacturers, learn about latest in boating innovations, and shop for boating accessories.

Planning Your Visit

The Newport International Boat Show runs for four days, from Thursday to Sunday. Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the venue. VIP packages are also available, offering exclusive access to certain areas and events. Given the popularity of the show, it’s best to book hotel accommodations early.

Before or after the boat show, leave some extra time for exploring the city of Newport. Take a stroll along the Cliff Walk, visit the International Tennis Hall of Fame, and enjoy some fresh seafood at one of the many waterfront restaurants.

Variety of Boat Models

One of the main attractions of the Newport International Boat Show is the variety of vessels on display. You can compare the latest models from top manufacturers, including sleek sailboats, high-performance powerboats, and state-of-the-art catamarans. Serious boat buyers should consider purchasing an Opening Preview Day ticket for the first day of the show to have more quality time with dealers.

Interactive Experiences

The Newport Boat Show isn’t just about looking at boats though -- it’s about actually stepping aboard to experience them. Many exhibitors offer interactive features, such as sea trial opportunities, allowing you to test the waters and compare the performance of different vessels on the water.

Innovative Marine Products

Along with the variety of boat models, the Newport show is a hotspot for cutting-edge marine gear and products since it’s home to the popular Newport for New Products (NFNP) program. Awards are given for Best New Powerboat, Best New Sailboat, Best New Product – Navigation (including marine electronics), Best New Product – Boat Operation, Maintenance & Safety and Best New Weather Gear (wearable).

Seminars and Workshops

Check out the boat show schedule and attend a few of the seminars and workshops led by industry experts (advance registration may be required). Topics range from beginner sailing techniques for women and boating safety practices to powerboat maintenance tips and navigation skills. A range of sessions are scheduled to provide valuable insights for both seasoned mariners and newcomers to the boating world.

Networking Opportunities

Boat shows often serve as a social hub for the boating community, and the Newport show is no exception. With networking events and VIP experiences, it provides an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow boating enthusiasts, industry professionals, and potential business partners.

The Newport International Boat Show is a must-visit event for anyone with a passion for boating. Mark your calendar for September and experience the best of the boating world in the heart of Newport.
