List of ways to support World Wildlife Day 2022, how to celebrate diverse forms of wildlife across the globe, help share the biodiversity conservation message
You may have heard that World Wildlife Day 2022 offers a special opportunity to celebrate all the beautiful and diverse forms of wildlife across the globe, but exactly what is World Wildlife Day? World Wildlife Day helps to create awareness of the continued loss of species, habitats and ecosystems that threatens life on our planet. This year, World Wildlife Day will drive ignite the conversation towards the need to reverse the fate of our most critically endangered species, to support the restoration of habitats and ecosystems, and to promote their sustainable use.
When is World Wildlife Day? United Nations World Wildlife Day is coming up on Thursday, March 3rd. Learn about a few ways you can get involved and make a difference to protect wildlife.
1. Share About Conserving Wildlife
Spread the word about theme of World Wildlife Day 2022, which is "Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration.” According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species, over 8,400 species of wild fauna and flora are critically endangered, while close to 30,000 more are understood to be endangered or vulnerable. Kids are the future leaders of wildlife conservation, and they deserve a future where we humans live in harmony with wildlife that share the planet with us. Share the message by using the hashtags #WorldWildlifeDay when posting on social media.
2. Learn Which Species Face Threats
Get to know the plant and animal species that face urgent threats in your area. Ask about how your community can help protect wild animals and support ongoing initiatives that are rooted in conservation. Familiarize yourself with the efforts of local conservationists and communities who are working to protect the future of nature. Find out how to develop a more balanced and sustainable relationship with these species and ecosystems.
3. Bring World Wildlife Day to Work or School
Bring WWD (World Wildlife Day) to your classroom or office. Introducing themes about the need for protecting biodiversity can be done virtually or in person. Talk to friends, colleagues, teachers, fellow students or educators about endangered species and efforts to conserve them because a thriving planet with healthy ecosystems is a cause well-worth discussing at work or school.
4. Wear It Wild on March 3rd
You can help defend wildlife when you join the WWF’s “Wear It Wild Challenge.” This is a fun fundraising challenge the whole family, classroom, school, and office can get on board with. Getting started is easy: Set three fundraising goals from achievable to ambitious and commit to wearing a different wildlife-themed accessory, outfit, or costume for each goal. Your goals—and fashion choices—can be whatever you like.
Now that you have four specific ways to get involved during World Wildlife Day 2022 and don’t need to wonder “when is World Wildlife Day,” you can do your part to help protect our planet’s wildlife.
