As you get more experience tying different fishing knots, you may find another braided line to fluorocarbon knot that you prefer, but the uni-to-uni is a good line-to-line connection for beginners to learn.
- Overlap the braid and fluorocarbon lines that are to be joined. Be sure to leave about 6-inches of overlapping line on each side so that you can make several wraps.
- Take the tag end of the line from the left and loop it around to make at least four wraps around both lines (if this is the side with your braided line, double the number of wraps from four to eight for extra strength), and then run the tag end through the loop that was formed.
- Repeat with the tag end of the line on the right, decreasing number of wraps from eight to four if this is the fluorocarbon side of the uni-to-uni.
- You have just tied two uni-knots. From this point, pull the standing lines in opposite directions so that the two knots slide up against each other (moisten both knots before tightening in order to prevent line damage caused by friction).
- Trim both tag ends of the line close to the knot and you have successfully tied a uni-to-uni or double uni!
