National Parents' Day is a relatively new way we can recognize the important role that parents play in a child’s life. South Korea first established this day, replacing their Mother’s Day in 1973. In the United States, National Parents' Day celebration ideas like fishing trips and outdoor cookouts on the fourth Sunday in July began to be considered when the holiday became a reality in 1994. Today, this mid-summer Sunday serves as a helpful reminder to appreciate the dedication, sacrifices, and unconditional love that parents from coast to coast often work hard to provide to their children every single day.

There are many ways we can celebrate, including having an outdoor adventure by taking mom or dad out on a National Parents' Day fishing trip after finding kid-friendly fishing spots near you. Cooking outdoors with kids on National Parents' Day is another way to spend quality time together on or around July 27 which is when National Parents’ Day will be celebrated in 2024.

Alternatively, firing up the grill and cooking everyone’s favorite foods in the backyard, having a catch or kick about with a soccer ball, and relaxing in a hammock together on a beautiful July weekend is another way to spend this special day with family.
