6 Tips for a Happy, Healthy Lifestyle. Incorporate these six healthy lifestyle tips into your everyday routine to nourish your mind, body, and soul.

The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to re-evaluate your goals, hopes, and dreams! A happy, healthy lifestyle is usually on top of everyone’s resolution list, but in order to achieve it you’ll need one key thing—an action plan. First, define what a healthy lifestyle looks like for you, then map out the timing and daily actions you’ll take to get there. If you need ideas, here are six tips for staying healthy and active all year long.

1. Get outside.

Spending time in nature provides significant benefits to your mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. It also reduces the time spent in front of a screen and inspires imagination and creativity. Plan to get outside every day, focus on being present, and take in the beauty around you.

2. Drink water.

A hydration rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in ounces of water. This flushes toxins from your system, manages hunger, improves skin complexion, and keeps you hydrated. This is a major key to living a healthy lifestyle.

3. Get adventurous.

Learning a new activity challenges your mind and keeps outdoor experiences fresh and exciting. Try learning how to catch fish, join a group fitness class, or explore a nearby city. This can be an especially fun activity for couples and families.

4. Move your body.

Don’t be intimidated at the thought of a crowded gym or nightmare-invoking workout regimen. Fitness is fun if you think of it as simply moving your body. Get your blood flowing even if you simply take a walk on your lunch break or play in the yard with your kids.

5. Eat your greens.

Being healthy and active starts in the kitchen. What you feed your body affects your physical and mental state—either positively or negatively. Only you can determine the best dietary balance for you, but everyone would benefit from cutting out processed foods and sugar.

6. Rest and recharge.

You work hard and you should rest hard. Aim for eight hours of sleep every night. This gives your body time to heal, reduces stress, improves brain function, builds your immune system, and more.

Incorporate these six healthy lifestyle tips into your everyday routine and eventually they’ll become habit. Life is too short to not put your best self forward. Enjoy the new year by blessing yourself with a happy, healthy lifestyle!
