Find an online fishing forum to connect with anglers in your local community or across the world and discuss tips, techniques, gear, and recommendations.

Online forums have been around since the birth of the internet and are one of the earlier forms of digital engagement, before social media was a thing. These discussion sites allow people with similar interests to hold conversations in the form of posted comments. It’s not known when the first fishing forum was founded, but they’ve exploded ever since. Texas fishing forum, fly fishing forum, name-your-niche fishing forum, there is one for every style, segment, and angling interest!

If you are new to fishing, forums provide perfect opportunities to connect with other anglers in your local community or across the world and discuss tips, techniques, gear, and recommendations.

  • You can easily search the niche of your choice in your search engine browser (trout, saltwater, fly, wade, surf, etc.) along with the words fishing forum and find hundreds of results. There are even location-based forums so you can get tactical advice on catching fish in your area.
  • Many forums are free to access, but require you to create an account and login. The best forums are those with active participation from the members so content is always fresh and relevant.
  • They’re often organized by main topics that each have message threads attached so you can participate in the conversations that interest you most and ignore anything that doesn’t. If you’re not sure what is a good forum to choose, ask around and see what your fishing friends or tackle shop recommend.

While these online hangouts are a great source for information and community, there’s no replacement for experience. Get out on the water and put your ideas to the test. Try new things, then try more. You’ll have much more fruitful conversation to bring back to the forum with a little trial and error.

Get your fishing license and hit the water! Enjoy!
