Fishing laws or regulations are designed to conserve fish populations so that current and future generations of anglers can experience the feeling of accomplishment that comes with catching a fish. In order to help assess and manage the pressure on fish populations, fishery biologists are employed by the state to help create effective fish management plans.

MAINE FISHING LICENSE INFORMATION

• You can buy Maine fishing licenses online from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife or purchase your license in person from a fishing license vendor near you.
• You can purchase a 15-day, 7-day, 3-day, or 1-day fishing license.
• All Maine fishing licenses expire on December 31 of the calendar year for which they were issued.
