As part of RBFF’s consumer brand Take Me Fishing’s integrated partnership with Forbes to highlight the benefits of fishing and boating for women, RBFF’s team took part in the 2023 Forbes Power Women’s Summit on September 14 in New York City. They were joined by key partners from Colle McVoy, the creative agency behind the award-winning Women Making Waves campaign. At the Summit, RBFF’s team heard from star-studded panels featuring Olympians, Oscar winners, CEOs and world leaders discussing topics at the intersection of gender, race, culture and class. The Summit’s theme was “Power Rising,” exploring the expanding influence of women worldwide as they reinvent industries, upend old rules, and harness the power of this critical moment to shape a new way forward.
The event brought together 200 women, including around thirty visionary women across business, politics, music, media and sports, to examine the world and their work. The speakers, including Mary J. Blige, Sue Bird, and Linda Thomas Greenfield, shared bold ideas and hard truths. They shared their stories of struggle and grit, highlighting cross-industry alliances and inviting everyone to shape a more equitable society. For the first time, recreational fishing and boating took center stage alongside these sports, entertainment, government, and business leaders.
Entrepreneur Ty Haney, featured in a Forbes article earlier this summer about how fishing helped her become a better leader and improved her mental health, joined fellow powerful women on stage to talk about her journey into building businesses and how fishing helped her achieve success. Ty talked about why she founded Outdoor Voices to inspire women to be active and enjoy the outdoors. She recounted the wave of inclusivity, accessibility, and recreation. She told her story of learning to fish with her dad and the joy of catching that first fish, all the way to how fishing inspired her to start her own company. The entire room applauded when she highlighted the thousands of anglers she introduced to the sport. Ty directly connected the parallels between fishing and entrepreneurship, aligning a focus on achievement with the ability to “cast again.” Her full presentation can be viewed on our YouTube channel.
The event also highlighted RBFF’s ‘Find Your Best Self’ campaign, bringing RBFF’s message to a crowd of influential, connected, barrier-breaking women across industries and generations. The Find Your Best Self on The Water ad was played for attendees who warmly received the researched-backed campaign, and the Take Me Fishing™ logo was featured prominently throughout the event. Plus, the brand touchpoints did not end at the close of the event. The attendees also received a Take Me Fishing ‘Fearless Fishing Line’ in their take-home swag bags as a reminder to try fishing and boating.
“It was a remarkable and inspiring experience to participate and see our brand in such a prestigious event alongside impactful women business leaders and innovators,” said Stephanie Vatalaro, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications at RBFF. “Listening to Ty Haney share how the pursuit of fishing has served as a source of inspiration, perseverance, and determination further validates our efforts to invest in the future of women in fishing and boating.”
The Forbes event's participation helped RBFF amplify its message about the importance of fishing and boating for women far and wide on social media, generating even greater brand visibility and awareness from Twitter and IG to LinkedIn and Facebook.
