RBFF Recognized with Neptune Award for Hispanic Outreach
RBFF announced its Vamos a Pescar™ campaign was awarded a Neptune Award for Marketing Excellence.
The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) announced its Vamos a Pescar™ campaign was awarded a Neptune Award for Marketing Excellence by the Marine Marketers of America. RBFF took home top honors for Best Diversity Initiatives, the first year of the category.
“We’re pleased to receive the Neptune Award for our work to engage the Hispanic audience,” said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. “We put a great deal of work into the development of the campaign and it’s very rewarding to have our peers recognize the importance of this initiative for the future of fishing and boating, and therefore conservation efforts.”
Launched in April 2014, Vamos A Pescar is the fishing and boating industry’s first-ever Hispanic outreach campaign to engage the rapidly growing Hispanic community in fishing and boating. It’s Spanish-language microsite, VamosAPescar.org, provides everything a beginner angler or boater would need to know including boating basics, how-to fish videos, an interactive where-to fish and boat map, fishing license and boat registration information, and mythbusters to help dispel the perceived barriers to getting out on the water. In addition to VamosAPescar.org, the campaign also includes Spanish-language national media, including TV and digital advertisements, as well as localized radio in key markets with large Hispanic populations.
The Neptune Awards for Marketing Excellence was created by Marine Marketers of America and is now in its eighth year. In all, 97 entries representing 47 companies were judged in 13 categories. Three new categories were added to this year’s awards: website, native advertising and diversity initiative.
More information on the Neptune Awards, including winners for each of the 13 categories, can be found on the Marine Marketers of America website.
