I was shocked when it spun effortlessly, and I smiled. Although I did not remember treating it with anti-seize paste I was pleased that I had and I got on with the boating and fishing much faster.
We celebrate lots of days and weeks these days, and National Fishing and Boating week is at the top of my list (National Doughnut Day, June 5th, is right up there, too). On the water my thoughts turn to wind and waves. They’re relaxing, far more so than sitting at home watching television. Being on the water gives me time to forget about the daily grind, and to focus on more important things like the 3F’s.
The 3F’s? Family, friends, and fishing.
Whenever I hitch the trailer to the truck the odds are that my family isn’t far behind. We deal with the cold, snowy winter for days of hot sun, flat seas, and fish cruising the flats and the edges. If you live near the water and own a boat there is no shortage of friends, so there are always trucks and cars parked in our driveway. We have three seasons of fun that more than get us through the long winter.
Most states offer free fishing days as well. Accident? Nah, it’s a coincidence. Check ’em out for your area.
And that’s exactly what this week celebrates: the pleasure that we get from fishing and boating. If we have a bad day, a bad week, heck, even a bad month, a day on the water washes it all away. When you get on the water after dealing with a flat trailer tire the stress just washes away. Even so, remember to treat the lugs with anti-seize paste just to be sure…).
