The State of Virginia has more than 2,800 miles of streams and rivers, in addition to numerous ponds, lakes and reservoirs. Virginia’s tidal waters are home to world class blue catfish angling and offer a destination for some of the most prized shallow water angling for striped bass and flounder fishing on the East Coast.
There are a variety of fishing techniques you can practice in Virginia, the most common are Fly fishing, Canoe fishing and Backwater & Flat fishing. Fly fishing has become very popular in Virginia. Every April, they celebrate Fly Fishing Festival, a family-friendly event with fishing demonstrations, and the largest festival of its kind in the U.S.
