MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa Bay
Constructing near shore oyster reefs was one way the Air Force and local volunteers could prevent erosion and restore natural vegetative barriers. In 2007 and 2008, nearly 3000 oyster domes were installed along the east shoreline of MacDill Air Force Base.
