Success Story

Red Rock Cienga Restoration
Scarce water, drought, and invasive vegetation have compromised a number of desert wetland habitats known as “cíenegas” in the west, including at the Red Rock Wildlife Management Area near the Gila River. This project involved restoration of a vital groundwater connection, removal of invasive plant species, planting of native plant species, and doubling the population of Gila topminnow and Gila chub in New Mexico.
