Discovery Education provides engaging digital resources in all core-curricular subject areas to one million educators and 35 million students with the goal of connecting classrooms and families to a world of learning. The Take Me Fishing™ campaign teamed up with Discovery Education to create Explore the Blue - an online resource center for educators and parents to engage students in a dialogue about boating and fishing, and the value of clean and healthy natural resources.
- Teachers can visit ExploretheBlue.com to download 28 different standards-aligned lesson plans for grades K-2 and 3-5 that cover math, science, social studies, health/physical education, and English/language arts.
- Parents can download a variety of activities that will help their families spend time together outside and explore all that nature has to offer.
- Kids can play the “Thrill of the Catch” - a virtual fishing game where they can learn about boating and fishing and care for their own ecosystem.
Outdoor Nation
Over the past four years, The Outdoor Foundation and the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF) have worked together on several innovative initiatives to engage top decision makers and youth leaders across the country - resulting in increased awareness of and activity in boating and fishing. Our partnership has resulted in the launch and major expansion of Outdoor Nation, the only national youth-empowerment initiative focused on young adults, support of 20 youth-led boating and fishing projects and release of ground-breaking research on participation trends.
